Two ways onto the island

The only way onto Sylt by car is the car train in Niebüll. We either take you to the loading point and you board the train there, or we drive onto the car train with you and drop you right at the door in Westerland.

The second option is more comfortable, but takes about 45 minutes longer and the loading fee costs extra. Just note in the notes field what you'd like and we'll plan it accordingly.

When the taxi makes sense

With a lot of luggage, with children, or when the train once again isn't running. From Neumünster the rail connection to Sylt is no pleasure: at least one change, and there's good reason not to trust the Marschbahn.

With four or five of you, the price per person is genuinely comparable to a train ticket, only without the changes and without lugging suitcases around.

Over the Hindenburgdamm or by car train

There's no bridge to Sylt; the island can only be reached over the Hindenburgdamm. We'll take you to Niebüll and, if you wish, on the car train right up to your accommodation in Westerland, Wenningstedt or Kampen. That way you arrive with all your luggage and no changes.

Because Sylt lies well outside Neumünster's mandatory metered-fare zone, there's no meter here, just our fixed price. You'll see the amount in the form before you book, as soon as you've entered your destination.

For holidays and for appointments

Whether it's a week by the North Sea, a weekend or an appointment on the island: we pick you up at your address and plan the return trip at the same time if you like. With children, bikes or several suitcases, the large people carrier is your best choice.

How best to plan the journey

When you book, tell us whether we should take you to Niebüll station or ride the car train with you onto the island, and give us your exact destination address in Westerland, List, Hörnum, Wenningstedt or Kampen. If you're travelling with a dog, a pushchair or sports gear like a kite or surfboard, just note it in the notes field and the right car will be ready for you. For loading onto the car train we build in a little buffer, so you arrive without any stress. We'll gladly set aside the return trip at the end of your holiday in advance too.

Frequently asked questions

Do you ride the car train with us?

Yes, if you'd like. Then we drop you right at your address on the island. In that case the loading fee is added to the fixed price.

How long does the journey to Sylt take?

About two hours to Niebüll. With the car train on to Westerland, add roughly 45 minutes, depending on the wait at the loading point.

Can I bring bicycles?

We can fit two bikes in a large taxi. Please mention it in the notes field when you book; the tariff's surcharge for bulky items applies for this.
