Medical rides in Neumünster: to your treatment and back, on time

How a medical ride with a prescription works

If you cannot get to your treatment yourself for medical reasons, your doctor can prescribe patient transport. The form for this is called Muster 4, the prescription for patient transport (Verordnung einer Krankenbeförderung). You get it at the practice or the hospital, ideally before your first ride.

Whether your health insurer covers the cost depends on the individual case. Especially for rides to outpatient treatment, prior approval from the insurer may be needed. Clarify this briefly with the practice or your insurer before the first ride is due, then there are no surprises later.

For those with statutory insurance there is usually a statutory co-payment per ride on approved medical rides. Its amount is regulated nationwide. Anyone exempt from co-payments pays nothing extra for a medical ride either.

Dialysis, chemo, radiotherapy: rides in a series

Dialysis usually takes place three times a week, radiotherapy often daily over several weeks. You book a series like that with us once, not thirty times. You give us the appointments, we schedule every single ride firmly.

Wherever possible we send you the same driver. That makes many things easier: he knows the route, the doorbell and how much time you need in the morning. And he is punctual, because a dialysis slot does not wait.

The return trip is part of it too. If the end of your treatment is fixed, the car waits outside at the agreed time. If it is not, just give us a quick call and we send the next free car.

Travelling with a walking frame or wheelchair

A walking frame or a foldable wheelchair naturally comes along; the driver stows it in the boot. Mention it briefly in the note field when you book and we will send a car with enough space.

Our drivers help you get in and out, from your front door to your seat and inside again at your destination. Just tell us what you need. There is no time pressure.

Good to know: we carry you seated. If you need to travel lying down or need medical care on the way, an ambulance transport vehicle is the right choice. Your doctor specifies that on the prescription.

To the FEK, your practice or a clinic further afield

Within Neumünster the official taxi tariff applies and the meter charges it. That also holds for medical rides, for example to the Friedrich-Ebert-Krankenhaus on Friesenstraße or to the practices in the town centre. We drop you off right at the entrance, not somewhere at the kerb.

For treatment further afield, say in Kiel, Bad Bramstedt or Hamburg, we drive for a fixed price. You see it in the form before you book, and it does not change along the way. All routes are on our fixed prices page.

For appointments we plan backwards: you tell us the time at the doctor's, we add driving time and a buffer. The pickup costs nothing, even with an advance booking.

Paying: cash, card or on account

In every one of our cars you can pay cash or by card. You get a receipt straight away in the vehicle or by email on request.

For regular rides an invoice is possible too, collected monthly for example. That saves you paying after every single ride. Just have a quick word with us.
