Taxi or public transport: which works when in Neumünster?

The official tariff of the city of Neumünster
Valid since 1 May 2025, fare ordinance of 10 April 2025. Within the compulsory service area the taximeter charges exactly these rates.

The night tariff applies Monday to Saturday from 22:00 to 6:00 and all day on Sundays and public holidays. Saturday daytime is the day tariff. Normal luggage is always included.
When the bus is simply the right choice
If you are travelling alone, have time during the day and a stop nearby, the city bus is cheaper. That is a fact, and we claim nothing else.
For the daily commute to work or school, a public transport ticket is also hard to beat. A taxi is not made for that. It is there for the moments when the timetable does not fit your life.
At night and early in the morning the sums change
In the evening the intervals get longer, and late at night the city goes quiet. If you want to get home from a party at half past one or need to catch the first train at four, there is no real alternative left.
That is exactly what we are here for: around the clock, since 2018, with more than 40 cars. One call to 04321 22200 or a pre-booking the evening before, and the car is at your door on time, even at four in the morning.
Door to door: when getting to the stop is the real problem
Two suitcases, the weekly shop, a pushchair or simply a knee that will not cooperate any more: then the fare is not the hurdle, the walk to the stop and the changing are. A taxi picks you up at your front door and stops at the entrance, not two streets away.

In a group, the taxi suddenly becomes cheap
The decisive difference: the taximeter price is per ride, not per person. A three-kilometre ride costs around €11.50 during the day, that is the €4.60 base fare plus three times €2.30 per kilometre. Between four of you, that is under three euros a head.
On the bus, everyone pays for their own ticket. The more of you travel together, the smaller the gap becomes, and setting off together and arriving together comes on top. From five people, a large taxi takes up to eight passengers.
Best of all: combine the two
Taxi and train are not rivals. The train is strong over long distances, the taxi on the first and last kilometre. The combination is often the smartest route: by taxi to Neumünster station, on time and with your luggage, and from there on comfortably to Hamburg or Kiel.

Will you take me just to the station?
Of course, it is one of our most frequent rides. Tell us your train's departure time and we plan the pick-up with a buffer, and the driver helps with your luggage right to the entrance.

When you are travelling alone, have time, are carrying little and there is a stop nearby. We say that quite openly. The taxi wins at night, with luggage, door to door and as soon as several of you travel together.
