Left something in the taxi? Here is how to get it back
The phone on the back seat, the keys down the side of the seat, the umbrella in the boot: it happens every day. One call is enough, we take care of the rest.
Rather call? 04321 22200, Day and night.
The first step: call 04321 22200
Call as soon as you notice something is missing. Our dispatch office is staffed around the clock, at night and at weekends too, and the sooner you get in touch, the easier the search.
Have three things ready: the date and time of the ride, the start and destination, and a short description of what is missing. With those details we can identify the car, because every ride goes through our dispatch office.
How we search
Using the date, time and route, the dispatch team works out which car carried you and contacts the driver directly. At the next stop they take a look: back seat, footwell, seat gaps, boot.
With a phone there is a simple trick: give us the number of the device and we will ring it. If it rings in the car, the search is over.
As soon as we find something, we call you back. Leave us a number where you can be reached.
Collect it or have it delivered
Once your item is found, you have two options. You collect it by arrangement; where and when, we agree together on the phone.
Or we bring it to you: a car heading your way takes the item along and drops it off at your address. What the delivery costs, we discuss openly on the phone beforehand, so there are no surprises.
What you can do yourself
The best protection is a quick glance before getting out: back seat, footwell, parcel shelf. Especially at night, with luggage or in a hurry, things easily get left behind.
A receipt helps too. It shows the date and time of the ride, exactly the details we need for the search.
And with valuables: do get in touch even if the ride was days ago. A call costs nothing, and often the item is still with us.
If no one comes forward
Found items that no one claims are handed to the municipal lost property office after a while. From then on, the search runs through the city, not through us.
That is why calling us first pays off. As long as the item is still with us, the way back is short: one phone call, one arrangement, done.
Frequently asked questions
I have left something in the taxi. What should I do?
Call 04321 22200; the dispatch office is staffed around the clock. Give the date and time of the ride, the start and destination and a short description. We identify the car and the driver checks straight away.
What details do you need for the search?
The date and time of the ride, the start and destination and a description of the missing item. Plus a phone number for the call back. With a phone, its number helps: we ring it and listen for it in the car.
Can you bring the item to me?
Yes. A car heading your way drops the item off at your address; we discuss the cost on the phone beforehand. Collecting it by arrangement works just as well.
What happens to items no one collects?
After a while we hand them to the municipal lost property office. From then on the search runs through the city, so an early call to us on 04321 22200 pays off.
Is it still worth calling after several days?
Yes. Do get in touch even if the ride was a while ago, especially for valuables. Often the item is still with us and a handover is quickly arranged.
